What it does
AI QuickSolver is a comprehensive utility app designed as an all-in-one toolkit for everyday calculations and problem-solving. It goes far beyond a standard calculator, bundling features like a photo math solver, numerous unit converters, statistical analysis tools, and even a digital whiteboard for note-taking and sketching.
Where it shines
The app's primary strength is its sheer breadth of functionality. It successfully combines what are typically several different single-purpose apps into one cohesive package. For example, the dashboard at 00:18 immediately presents a wide array of tools, encouraging exploration. The digital whiteboard feature (02:37) is surprisingly robust, including advanced tools like an object eraser (03:06) and a virtual ruler (03:18), making it genuinely useful for students and professionals.
UX highlights
- Toolbox Dashboard: The main screen isn't a calculator but a well-organized dashboard that separates tools into "Daily life" and "Unit conversion" categories, making it easy to find the right tool quickly.
- Interactive Calculator History: The calculator (05:43) keeps a running log of recent calculations. Users can tap any previous entry to instantly reuse it in a new calculation, which is a great efficiency booster.
- Photo Math Solver: The app integrates a camera feature (02:15) that allows users to snap a photo of a math problem to get a solution, a high-value feature for its target student audience.
- Feature-Rich Whiteboard: The whiteboard is more than an afterthought. With multiple brush types, a highlighter, an object eraser, and a ruler, it's a powerful space for working through problems.
- Live Calculations: In all conversion and calculation tools, the results update in real-time as the user types, providing immediate feedback without needing to press an equals button.
Monetization & growth
The app's monetization strategy is direct and aggressive. Upon first launch, after a system permission prompt, the user is immediately presented with a paywall (00:07). It offers a single subscription plan with a 3-day free trial. This approach aims to convert high-intent users right away. Later in the user journey, the app uses a native prompt to ask for a rating (04:56), which, if positive, likely directs them to the App Store.
Who it’s for
This app is primarily for students and professionals who frequently need to perform a wide range of calculations and conversions. The photo math solver and digital whiteboard make it particularly valuable for students in STEM fields. Professionals who need quick access to unit converters, currency exchange rates, or statistical tools would also find it useful.
Notes & opportunities
The onboarding experience is abrupt, moving from a permission prompt directly to a paywall. While efficient, this may alienate users who want to explore the app before committing. Adding a brief, optional tour or highlighting one key feature interactively first could build more trust. Additionally, the calculator's history tape (05:43) is very useful, but its tap-to-reuse functionality could be made more obvious with a small visual cue.
